When it cannot wait
24/7 Emergency Plumbing Across Long Island
A real emergency line, answered by someone at Flow’s rather than a call center in another state. Burst pipe, sewage in the basement, no hot water in a freeze — call and we will tell you what to shut off while we drive.
A person, not a queue
Our emergency line reaches someone who works here and knows the trucks.
90 minutes on average
Across Nassau and western Suffolk, that is our real average response time.
Priced before we start
You get the number up front. Nobody should be negotiating in a flooding basement.
Maintenance plans
An annual visit catches the small things. Most emergencies were avoidable in September.

Emergency & Maintenance on Long Island, Explained
What to do before we arrive
Find your main shutoff now, while nothing is wrong. It is usually where the service line enters the house, near the meter. Turn it a quarter turn twice a year so it does not seize — a shutoff that will not close is the difference between a wet floor and a ruined one.
For an active leak: shut the main, open the lowest faucet in the house to drain the system, and kill power to any circuit near standing water at the panel. Then call us.
Frozen and burst pipes
Pipes in exterior walls, unheated crawl spaces and garages are the ones that go, and they usually burst on the thaw rather than the freeze. If you have a faucet that has stopped running in a cold snap, you have a freeze somewhere and a burst pending.
Open the cabinet doors under sinks on exterior walls, let a pencil-width trickle run overnight when it is genuinely cold, and disconnect the hose bibs in the fall. Those three habits prevent most of the frozen-pipe calls we run every winter.
Sewage backups
Sewage in a basement is a health matter as much as a plumbing one. Stay out of it, keep pets and children away, and do not run any more water — every flush upstairs adds to what is on the floor.
We clear the line and get the water moving. For the cleanup itself we will point you to remediation people we actually trust, because that is their trade rather than ours.
The maintenance visit that prevents this
Once a year we walk the house: flush the water heater, test the sump and its backup, check supply lines to washers and toilets, exercise the main shutoff, check the pressure regulator, and camera the main if you are on an older lateral.
It is not a glamorous appointment. It is also the reason our maintenance customers call us far less often than everyone else, which we consider the point.

Do you actually answer the phone at night?
Yes, by someone who works at Flow’s and knows where the trucks are. No overseas call center taking a message for the morning.
What should I do while I wait for you?
Shut the main, open the lowest faucet in the house to drain the system, and cut power at the panel to any circuit near standing water. Then keep the phone nearby — we often call from the road.
